13 Year Old Fashion Designer

The first thing I think of when you say "yeah, she has her own fashion line at age 13" is wow! That is amazing and really inspiring.The second thing that comes to mind is jealousy. I mean, can you blame me? Who has their own Nordstrom line at age 13? Isabella Rose Taylor does. And besides the fact that we share the same first name (her parents must have spectacular taste) Isabella and other teen fashion designers have really inspired me.
So, I wonder, what is the secret to Isabella’s success at such a young age? I did some 'investigative' research (which is code for stalking) and here's what I discovered. Isabella Rose Taylor (now 13) began sewing at age eight (when I was still climbing trees and playing with my American girl dolls, and nowhere near starting a fashion career.) She soon got inspired to create her own clothes, and people noticed her beautiful and unique ideas.Soon enough she had her own trunk show at a local boutique. Her parents began to notice that she had some talent that went beyond the normal isn't-my-kid-incredible talent. They realized that this could become a business. At age nine, Isabella was on the lookout for someone to teach her about the fashion business. And she soon found the perfect mentor and guide for her. Liza Dermenjian, who also coached Gretchen Jones, the winner of project runway season eight (score!) began to work with Isabella to develop her business.Having such an experienced mentor must be amazing! With Liza’s guidance and Isabella's talent, Isabella became a fashion sensation. She did not only work with Nordstrom to develop her own clothing line there but also began to design her own line and now has her own website (which you can check out here) where you can buy her designs. I think it is really great having young designers in the market like Isabella whose audience is mostly younger girls like them. Who knows what you want to wear? Who understands you? Other thirteen-year-olds. Am I right? Isabella is a great example that you can be successful and do what you love no matter what age you are. And if you are interested in getting into the fashion business, just remember what Isabella's motto is .... she says the key to her success is “blood, sweat, and glitter.” Sounds right to me.
